چکیده

Editing a sketch should be one of the essential features provided by sketch recognition systems to allow people to modify what they have drawn, without having to delete and redraw shapes. This paper introduces a control point based editing approach we call RingEdit. RingEdit differs from other sketch editors in that the user actually draws their own control points on the sketch, rather than relying on control points generated by the recognition system. It provides modes that allow moving, rotating, scaling, and bending on both the shape level and stroke level. RingEdit shows great editing capabilities. Author

Sketch Recognition with Natural Correction and Editing

In this paper, we target at the problem of sketch recognition. We systematically study how to incorporate users’ correction and editing into isolated and full sketch recognition. This is a natural and necessary interaction in real systems such as Visio where very similar shapes exist. First, a novel algorithm is proposed to mine the prior shape knowledge for three editing modes. Second, to diff...

The Significance of Peer-Editing in Teaching Writing to EFL Students

This study set out to investigate the effect of peer- editing as a metacognitive strategy on the development of writing. It was hypothesized that peer-editing could be used to raise grammatical and compositional awareness of the learners. Forty pre-intermediate sophomores at Islamic Azad University-Tabriz Branch participated in the study, taking the course Writing I. To warrant the initial homo...

Automatically Generating Sketch Interfaces from Shape Descriptions

As pen-based input devices have become more common, sketch recognition systems are being developed for many hand-drawn diagrammatic domains such as mechanical engineering, GUI design, course of action diagrams, and many others. These sketch interfaces 1) allow for more natural interaction than a traditional mouse and palette tool by allowing users to hand-sketch the diagram, 2) can automaticall...

Sketch-based modeling and adaptive meshes

We present two sketch-based modeling systems built using adaptive meshes and editing operators. The first one has the capability to control local and global changes to the model; the second one follows geological domain constraints. To build a system that provides the user with control of local modifications we developed a mathematical theory of vertex label and atlas structure for adaptive mes...

Automatically Transforming Symbolic Shape Descriptions for Use in Sketch Recognition

Sketch recognition systems are currently being developed for many domains, but can be time consuming to build if they are to handle the intricacies of each domain. This paper presents the first translator that takes symbolic shape descriptions (written in the LADDER sketch language) and automatically transforms them into shape recognizers, editing recognizers, and shape exhibitors for use in co...
